Film

In 2020, I returned to film. Using a large format ( 4x5 ) and medium format camera, I have found that each type of film gives a unique rendition to some familiar scenes. I've also found that I can use film right alongside digital, each having it's own strengths and weaknesses. The best of both worlds!

    Caprock Canyon

Taken in February 2022, this state park in Texas is a favorite destination. Camping nearby, I woke up to a couple of inches of snow. By the time I took this photo, much of it had melted, but suddenly the sun appeared, setting the white dusting against red rock; I quickly set up the view camera and shot two versions ( one color, one b/w ), but I'm happiest with the color version. Shot on Provia 100F transparency film.
